Band
Approximately 700 fifth through 12th grade students on four different campuses participate in the White Settlement ISD band program. Our band family is the best in the universe with hard working students, service-minded parents, and driven band directors all striving for excellence each day. If you are a part of our family, we hope this website serves to answer your questions. If you are considering joining our band program, we would love to have you!

Step-Up Instruments
By the time a student reaches high school band, they should consider renting or purchase a step-up instrument. Students still playing an instrument they purchased as a beginner can be held back by the level of instrument for which they are playing. Marching band is very hard on instruments due to the outdoors and increasing use of the instrument compared to middle school band. We suggest students keep their beginner model instrument for marching band and purchase an intermediate, advanced, or professional level instrument for concert season (indoor playing only). Online purchases are not recommended. It is always best to play the instrument, and make sure it is the best fit for the student.

Summer Band Camps
There are several band camps throughout Texas that specialize in working with young band students. At camp you will work with professional music teachers, play in a real band (with a real concert at the end of the week!), play games and participate in activities. Most of the camps are taught at University campuses.
Most of these camps have audition music and scales to place you in a band. Get the audition information for your camp as soon as possible! Here are a few websites to get you started:
Most colleges host summer band camps, so if you have a specific school in mind, go to their website!
